“NON-EUCLIDIAN MATTER AND FRACTIONAL DIMENSIONS”
Explorations into the Aesthetics of Recursive Space
This exhibition immerses the viewer in landscapes generated using fractal geometry, a visual language that challenges the rules of traditional physical space. The works, created in real-time using the Unreal Engine 5 engine, explore the intersection between pure mathematics and immersive digital art.
The Concept
The exhibition presents a journey through two visual poles:
-
Organic Matter : Landscapes that evoke alien reefs, spongy rock formations, and hyper-detailed biological structures. These pieces celebrate the self-similarity found in nature, from ferns to coastlines.
-
Mechanical Architectures : Neon tunnels, recursive boxes, and industrial structures that resemble infinite factories or complex sci-fi infrastructures. These animations demonstrate that even cubic shapes, when subjected to iteration (repetition of a mathematical function), acquire a complexity that can only be described with a fractional dimension.
The Creative Process
Unlike traditional graphics that use finite polygonal models, each piece in this gallery uses the technique of raymarching over Signed Distance Fields (SDFs). This allows for an infinite level of detail that is calculated at the exact moment the camera sees it, without consuming massive storage memory.
“NON-EUCLIDIAN MATTER AND FRACTIONAL DIMENSIONS” is an invitation to question the limits of space and reality, demonstrating that what appears to be chaos is, in reality, a mathematical order of unimaginable beauty and complexity.
